Setting off into the darkness

On Wednesday evening, 28 May 2025, at 7:30 p.m., the moment had come: my two friends and I began the legendary Rigimarsch hike in Switzerland. We picked up our starting bands at the city school in Bremgarten – and we were off.

Our goal: Rigi Kulm, 50 kilometres away. Ahead of us lay a night march over hills, along lakes, and finally up a mountain. The weather wasn’t exactly ideal, but we had prepared for that.

First impressions – steady progress on the flats

The route was clearly marked with candles, flags, and signs. I decided to use my Sisu Grip poles at least for the flat sections. I was unsure whether to bring them into the mountains – I’d make that decision later.

The first checkpoint was in Hünenberg, at the 23-kilometre mark. The ergonomic grip of the poles felt perfect in my hands, and even after hours, my hold remained steady and comfortable. On gentle inclines, the built-in spring showed its strength – it almost felt like floating.

Towards the mountain – the weather turns, but the poles hold strong

The route continued through Rotkreuz, along the shores of Lake Zugersee, and toward Rigi. From this point on, the weather stayed consistently bad: rain, rain, and more rain. The path became noticeably more demanding, but the poles provided excellent support, especially on uneven terrain.

Passers-by noticed my poles and asked about them. I felt proud – the Sisu Grips were an essential part of my journey, and they truly performed.

The climb begins – the poles became part of me

At kilometre 38, the ascent to the summit of Rigi began. On the dark slopes of Seebodenalp, at 6:30 a.m., after 11 hours of walking, we stood on Rigi Kulm. Exhausted but happy. This moment will stay with me for the rest of my life.

Rigimarsch 2025 was both a physical and mental challenge – but also an unforgettable experience. I was especially thankful for my Sisu Grip poles. They provided stability and confidence on all surfaces, and the ergonomic grip protected my wrists from strain. Without them, the journey would have been significantly more difficult.

Rigimarsch 2025: 50 kilometres – destination Rigi

The Sisu Grip poles were with me the whole way. The ergonomic grip remained comfortable even after many hours, and on rough terrain they offered outstanding support. Without them, the climb to Rigi would have been much tougher. I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone who values comfort and confidence – especially on longer hikes.
